What is a plug-on current transformer (ASK)?
plug-on current transformers (ASK) are specially designed for use on CU busbars and round conductors. They offer secure foot and rail mounting including insulating protective cap for touch-safe operation. Integrated secondary sealing caps are included in the scope of delivery, optional sealing plates are available.
When a plug-on current transformer is the right choice
plug-on current transformers are suitable wherever the primary conductor is designed as a busbar or round conductor – for example in distribution cabinets, on busbars or directly at device connections. They therefore differ from other designs such as wound-type current transformers (WSK) or split-core current transformers (KBR/KBU), which are designed for other installation situations. Which design is suitable in individual cases depends on the existing conductor shape, the available installation space and the required transformation ratio – please contact us via the contact form or by telephone if you are unsure.
Technical features
- Secure foot and rail mounting
- Insulating protective cap for touch-safe operation
- Integrated secondary sealing caps included in the scope of delivery
- Optional sealing plates for additional tamper protection
- Various accuracy classes and transformation ratios available on request
Mounting and safety
The secondary circuit of a current transformer must never be operated open during operation – before disconnecting measuring devices in the secondary circuit, it must be short-circuited. The insulating protective cap and the secondary sealing caps of the ASK series support touch-safe operation, but do not replace proper installation by qualified electrical personnel.
Versions at a glance
The available ASK variants differ in size, transformation ratio and accuracy class – the complete overview can be found in the product list above. If you have any questions about the right selection for your application, please use our contact form or call us.
