What is a summation current transformer (KSU/SUSK)?
A summation current transformer has several primary windings (up to eight inputs), whose currents are added internally and output as a common secondary signal – instead of several individual measurements, it provides a sum measurement.
When a summation current transformer is the right choice
Summation current transformers are suitable when it is not the currents of individual conductors but their sum that is of interest – for example for total load monitoring of several parallel conductors or feeders. If, on the other hand, the individual currents are to be recorded separately, independent transformers per conductor, e.g. WSK or ASK, are the right choice.

Mounting and safety
The secondary circuit of a current transformer must never be operated open during operation – before disconnecting measuring devices in the secondary circuit, it must be short-circuited.
