UMG 20CM Differenzstrommessgerät
Residual current (RCM) and energy data acquisition
The residual current measuring device UMG 20CM has 20 current measuring channels, two digital outputs (open collector) and measures harmonics up to the 63rd harmonic. In addition, the UMG 20CM can be used for energy data acquisition. GridVis®-Basic is already included in the scope of delivery.
RCM
A conductive residual current monitoring system detects fault currents at an early stage before they lead to system failures or even fires. It is already integrated in certain UMG measuring devices. The required RCM measuring current transformers can be retrofitted by the user if necessary. Continuous residual current monitoring significantly increases system safety and availability. In certain applications such as data centers, residual current monitoring is mandatory due to the requirements for high availability.
Harmonics
Harmonics are caused by equipment with a non-linear characteristic, such as transformers operated in saturation, energy-saving lamps, frequency converters and power electronics. They place additional loads on the grid through extra currents and can affect or even destroy equipment. These grid feedback effects can be detected and documented with power quality analyzers.
Modbus interface
Many UMG measuring devices feature an RS485 interface with Modbus RTU protocol, enabling extremely cost-effective networking. It is characterized by a simple topology structure and immunity to EMC interference. Communication between transmitter and receiver takes place via a shielded, twisted-pair “twisted pair cable”.
Alarm management
The alarm management of GridVis® monitors all measurement parameters acquired by the UMG measuring devices. It includes escalation management, logbook function and user management for individual notifications by email, popup window on the monitor, etc. In addition to monitoring rms values, short interruptions and transients as well as communication with the measuring devices can also be monitored.
GridVis®
GridVis® is a comprehensive and scalable software for setting up an energy monitoring system and for monitoring power quality. It is used both for programming and configuring many UMG measuring devices and for reading, processing and analyzing the measurement data. Typical applications include power supply, industrial plants, facility management, etc.
Current channels
While power quality analysis and energy management play a major role at the main feed-in point, individual currents are more likely to be recorded in sub-distributions.
The UMG 20CM energy and residual current measuring device has 20 current channels for this purpose, i.e. connections for current transformers. This allows operating currents up to 600 A and residual currents from 10 mA to 1000 mA to be recorded.
Applications
- Continuous recording of operating currents
- Permanent residual current monitoring
- Messages in the event of rated current exceedances
- Energy recording of complete power distributions
- Cost center recording
- Energy cost transparency
- More effective use of IT infrastructure
- PDUs in data centers
- Increase in high availability
