Product information
Das UMG 103-CBM is a universal measuring device for DIN rail mounting in low-voltage distribution systems and is used for measuring and monitoring electrical parameters in power distribution systems. It measures harmonics up to the 40th harmonic.

Harmonics

Harmonics are caused by equipment with a non-linear characteristic, such as transformers operated in saturation, energy-saving lamps, frequency converters and power electronics. They place additional loads on the grid through extra currents and can affect or even destroy equipment. These grid perturbations can be detected and documented with voltage quality analyzers.

Modbus interface

Many UMG measuring devices feature an RS485 interface with Modbus RTU protocol, enabling extremely cost-effective networking. It is characterized by a simple topology and immunity to EMC interference. Communication between transmitter and receiver takes place via a shielded, twisted-pair cable “Twisted Pair cable”.

GridVis®

GridVis® is a comprehensive and scalable software for building an energy monitoring system and for monitoring voltage quality. It is used both for programming and configuring many UMG measuring devices and for reading, processing and analyzing the measurement data. Typical applications include power supply, industrial plants, facility management, etc.

Limit value monitoring

Limit value monitoring can be assigned to both alarm management and switching operations. Corresponding UMG measuring devices have digital outputs that can also be used as switching outputs. This allows certain reactions to be automated if a threshold value is exceeded or not reached.

Areas of application

Large measurement data memory for even greater data security

Qualified statements about energy consumption and voltage quality cannot be obtained from measurements that are limited exclusively to the feed-in point. To identify sources of interference or energy wasters, data must be recorded at many points in the grid, i.e. the granularity (resolution) of the measurement is decisive. However, this is often a question of space and cost.

An ideal solution for this task is the new UMG 103-CBM. The extremely compact and cost-effective universal measuring device requires only a width of 71.5 mm on the DIN rail and thus fits conveniently into any distribution board. In addition to a large number of energy values and electrical measured values, it offers a variety of additional functions, such as the measurement of harmonics, storage of minimum and maximum values, operating hours counter and bimetal function. The UMG 103-CBM can be operated both as a slave on a higher-level device, such as the UMG 604E, and connected directly to a PC.

Local data backup with clock | battery | memory

The Janitza UMG 103-CBM is based on the proven technology of the UMG 103. With clock, battery and measurement data memory, it becomes a device that opens up completely new applications. On the one hand, data security is significantly increased. This is of high relevance when energy data is recorded separately for individual company divisions or customers. On the other hand, the device can serve as a stand-alone solution in areas where differentiated grid monitoring was previously too complex.

Ideal for Industry 4.0 applications

Industry 4.0 – means networking on the one hand and intelligent controls deep into the plant field on the other. What the sensors at the tip of a robot arm detect is transmitted to a development team at the other end of the world. This technology requires a power supply of the highest quality and reliability; real-time data processing does not tolerate voltage dips.

It is only logical not to monitor the power supply with a large number of instruments, but – entirely in line with the philosophy of Industry 4.0 – to integrate it into a single, modern monitoring system.

The UMG 103-CBM is an ideal component for measurement data acquisition at the forefront. Together with master devices (e.g. UMG 604E or UMG 96RM-E) and the GridVis® software, scalable solutions can be implemented. All data is centrally recorded in a database and
