Product information

The Sonel MPI-540-PV is a state-of-the-art multifunction measuring device specially developed for testing and analyzing photovoltaic systems as well as electrical installations in residential and industrial facilities. It combines numerous measuring functions in a single, robust device – compliant with standard EN 62446 and many other standards.

With just one device, AC and DC measurements, power quality analyses, safety tests, as well as the creation of standard-compliant measurement reports can be carried out quickly and efficiently.


Specialist for photovoltaic testing

The MPI-540-PV is designed for PV measurements in accordance with EN 62446:

  • Open-circuit voltage (UOC)

  • Short-circuit current (ISC)

  • Insulation resistance on the DC side

  • Current and power on the DC and AC side

  • Inverter efficiency

  • Protective conductor continuity

  • Grounding resistance

The device automatically converts the measured PV parameters to STC conditions (Standard Test Conditions). This enables reliable evaluation of PV modules and inverters. All results can be transferred to standard-compliant test reports via the Sonel Reports PLUS software.


Reliable power quality analysis

The Sonel MPI-540-PV also functions as a powerful 3-phase power analyzer (Class S, EN 61000-4-30). The following can be measured:

  • Voltages and currents (up to 3 kA, depending on the current clamp)

  • Frequency (40–70 Hz)

  • Active, reactive and apparent power

  • Power factor, cosφ, tgφ

  • Harmonics (up to the 40th order)

  • THD (Total Harmonic Distortion)

  • Energy flow in 4 quadrants

  • Live display of waveforms, spectra and phasor diagrams

These functions enable a sound assessment of power quality – ideal for energy optimization and fault analysis.


Safety tests according to standards – all in one device

In addition to PV and power analyses, the MPI-540-PV also covers all classic measurements of electrical installations:

  • Loop impedance (also with RCD protection without tripping)

  • RCD testing (manual or in auto mode)

  • Insulation resistance

  • Grounding resistance (including specific earth resistance, 4-wire method)

  • Continuity of protective conductors and equipotential bonding

  • Phase sequence and motor rotation field testing

  • Lux measurement (with optional sensor)

Thanks to automatable test sequences (auto test) and the option to define custom measurement series, complete installations can be tested efficiently – even during repeat testing.
